Let go of your EGO
At times, I find myself appalled at the way people deal with certain situations. I think to myself 'seriously, is their EGO so big that they can't admit to the mistake?' ... Luckily, I was never one who had EGO problems, nor one with super high self esteem (quite the opposite actually) but I do have one friend whose ego is bigger than Brangelina's paycheck at the end of the month; so I know how difficult it can be to reason with people like him.
Funnily enough, having a large ego does not necessarily make it a problem..it's identifying yourself with it that is. So how does one stop identifying himself through his ego?
By letting go of the need to be the best in everything you do - Truth is, there will always be someone who is better, faster, stronger, smarter than you are. Let go of the need to be a winner in everything. Victories will show up more as you learn to pursue them less.
You are not always right. Let go of this ego-driven need to be right. Stop yourself in the middle of an argument and ask yourself: 'Am I right or do I want to be right?'
Stop being offended. If you look for reasons to be offended, you're gonna find them EVERYWHERE. You cannot reach the power of intention by being offended. Being offended by the littlest thing will only create a negative energy; which is what offended you in the first place.
Learn to be happy with what you have. Stop wanting more. The mantra of the ego is more. No matter how much you acquire or achieve, your ego will insist that it isn't enough. It is never satisfied. So learn to be grateful for whatever you have and remember it is always more than what some others can afford.
Lastly, let go of your reputation. Your reputation resides in the minds of others and thus, you have very little to no control over it at all. Do not get over concerned about what others think of you. If you speak to 10 people you will have 10 different reputations. Whatever you do in life is for yourself, not to prove to others how superior you are.
