Valentine's Day Rant

Let's be honest, Valentine’s Day one of the tackiest and most tasteless of holidays. How senseless of us to have taken something as wonderful as love and pretty much made it crap. Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about celebrating love but somehow we are now measuring love by the amount of gifts we receive. Is this what showing love is truly all about?

Why I detest V-Day…

1 - Because I would rather give my s.o. a surprise on any other day of the year rather than have gifts so blatantly scheduled on my behalf. Or just because a Hallmark card advised me to.

2 – The drama. All the single people who use the day as an excuse to grumble about their pitiful lives. It’s really painful listening to each of my friends blabbering on about how they are never going to find true love.

3 - The fakers. People who act like they don’t care about V-Day until the actual day. Then they flood your newsfeed with ‘cute’ posts about love, photos of their roses, chocolates, rings, teddy bears, their V-Day outfit (obviously with red carefully incorporated) etc.

Whether you are single, married, in a relationship, in a complicated relationship please remember this:

You are loved, by many. Parents, siblings, friends,
neighbors, colleagues and perhaps even the staff at the bar (if you keep tip well) ... do not ignore all of the people in your life that love you.

V-Day is not about tacky teddy bears or flowers that die in three days... it is about celebrating love.
