Does time heal?
Whilst at dinner with some of my friends, this question came up: ''Does time heal?" We noticed it would dampen the mood so we immediately changed the subject, but its been at the back of my mind since then.. so here's my two cents...
No, time does not heal wounds. The only thing it does is hide and cover up what has hurt you. If you really want to heal, you will have to do more than just sit back and wait for time to pass. There are certain things that can never be covered up or forgotten about. If ignored... over time, it can actually get worse. The perfect way to heal your wounds is by facing them. Yes, it will hurt, possibly more than it did when whatever happened to you occured.
We need to give ourselves time to understand what has happened, to process it all, but we must not let it stay in our mind for too long. First things first, we need to accept what has happened and secondly, we must forgive the person who has hurt us. Until we can forgive and accept, we will not be able to move on with our lives.
So instead of ignoring the wounds, the better option is to embrace the hurt, the frustration, the anger and the hard work it takes to make yourself get better. You must stop giving credit to time, and instead give credit to the strength you have to walk the road to a new you.
